It has been used successfully in several different settings (scientific trials, health policies, pharmacoeconomics, clinics, etc.). The EQ-5D is short, easy to use and flexible. The concept of health in EQ-5D also encompasses both positive aspects (well-being) and negative aspects (illness). The conceptual basis of the EQ-5D is the holistic view of health, which includes the medical definition, as well as the fundamental importance of independent physical, emotional and social functioning. The EuroQOL five dimensions questionnaire ( EQ-5D) is one of the most commonly used generic questionnaires to measure health-related quality of life (HRQOL).
